Arraya Office Tower

Set in the heart of Kuwait city Arraya Tower rises a breathtaking 300 m into the sky to become one of the most prominent buildings in Kuwait and to also mark an important milestone in the history of Pace. A sixty storey glass curtain wall narrows into a telecommunications mast that made it the tallest building in the country upon completion and the first skyscraper in Kuwait. Innovative use of linear glass and stone, further strengthened by a series of square punctuated windows and a series of angled ribbed like steel structure make this skyscraper an instant icon in the region and has helped to re-define the standard for the surrounding skyline.

The Avenues Phase I and II

Located along the fifth Ring Road between the Ghazali Expressway and the Mohammed bin Al-Qassim Road, The Avenues brings about a revolution in the way we think about and experience retail.

The project establishes a long pedestrian street intersected by two smaller avenues, navigating what is the largest enclosed mall in Kuwait. Landscaped gardens and fountains punctuate the paths and bring a sense of regality to the location.

The Avenues’ canted plans and angled sections pay homage to desert canyons and natural stone formations, whilst the second and third storey’s streets are covered with undulating waves of structural glass panels and suspended acoustical clouds.

The Avenues has carved a proud face for modern day Kuwait, a statement of intent towards a promising future.

Kuwait Cancer Centre

The Kuwait Cancer Centre is a newly proposed state of the art medical facility catering to cancer diagnosis and treatment. Located in Al Sabah Medical District in Kuwait City, this iconic landmark is set to become one of the largest cancer treatment centres in the world.

The flowing articulation of the building plan addresses three key challenges; the scale of the facility, the space program requirements, and the incorporation of the building into its surrounding urban fabric. Three unique curved structures – located on a unifying podium – create a pleasant flow and highlight the developmental purpose of the building.

The centre’s use of light and transparency serves for both aesthetic and functional reasoning: graceful in appearance, the large transparent expanses allow patients a spectacular view of the skyline and bay beyond.

At ground level, visitors stroll amid serene landscaped spaces; supporting cafes and health & retail stores, whilst the public atrium is home to a mall nestled between the towers. Multilevel sky-bridges allow staff and patient circulation between the towers, ensuring beauty and purpose from the bottom to the top.

Mahboula Complex

This high-end retail and restaurant development creates an integrated environment of indoor and outdoor spaces with the use of a modern interpretation of traditional Arabic architectural devices.

Located near a popular restaurant strip, the Mahboula Complex distinguishes itself by colonnades and landscaping: fusing the traditional bazaar with a walled garden.

Privately set winding courtyards and water features define the area, whilst mashrabiya-like Laiwan cast intricate light patterns along the length of the centre creating a unique environment.

Pace’s understanding of retail and leisure’s significance has helped forge generations of future living projects, bringing a higher quality of life to a progressing world.

Kuwait Business Town Towers

To mark the growing strength of Kuwait City’s financial sector, the Kuwait Business Town Towers were designed with the highest quality Class A office facilities in mind, catering for the new prestige in modern business.

The Towers’ dynamic feel comes from the interplay between the unique, angled tops and the V profiled, glass canopy that knits the four structures together at base.

Silver reflective vision glass, white aluminium clad horizontal fins and stainless steel panels adorn the exterior in a design inspired by traditional Arabic rugs & Islamic patterns. This dichotomy between past and present has allowed the twisting facades of the mixed-use corporate buildings to become a nod to how lessons of tradition have inspired today’s economic growth.

Cultural Centre at Sabah Al Ahmad City

BDP/Pace were commissioned by PAHW to design the Sabah Al-Ahmad City Cultural Centre, a keystone civic buildings within the new city of Sabah Al-Ahmad. Following a limited design competition the team were appointed to develop all aspect of the design up to tender stage.

The Cultural Centre lies at the heart of the new city. It will be one of the most important buildings within Sabah Al Ahmad. It will reflect Kuwait’s rich heritage, but also encompass popular culture, providing state of the art facilities and an inspirational home for a wide range of cultural activities. This mix of functions are fundamental to the establishment of a great city and at the heart of civilized society.

Project is built on a 27,000 m² site and its components are:

2 theaters, 700 seat & 250 seats for all sorts of theatrical productions; 200 seat Conference center with flexibility for hosting conferences with different capacities; 250 seat Recital hall for music performances; Children culture center with many cultural activities for children including a 150 seat theater; Amphitheater for outside performances; Museum; Art gallery for hosting art exhibitions; Library; Book exhibition for hosting book fairs; Oasis: a green air-conditioned large space for public gathering , a cultural café and other cultural activities.

Marriott Courtyard Hotel

The 302 rooms and suites of the luxury 4-star Courtyard Marriott Hotel are divided between its two main building towers. These are connected by an 8 storey top-lit glass atrium that allows natural daylight to stream in and gives visitors and guests alike a sense of well being throughout the day. At each end of the atrium a linear slot of glass gives dramatic views across the city or back toward the coast, and six connecting tower bridges and spacious floor foyers overlook the atrium. Full height cream marble walls create an elegant surface across which the light is cast during the day whilst the upper six floors of the thirty storey tower provide offices, accessed via a separate elevator lobby.

The hotel functions are completed with a suite of meeting rooms, cafes, restaurants and grand banquet halls and include a health club and swimming pool offering exquisite views over the city.
